CFN’s offices and its team are based at the Edith Stephens Wetland Park along Lansdowne Road in Phillipi. The CFN is a small team consisting of 5 members who are:

 

Paula Hathorn: Acting Project Manager

 

paula_tPaula joined Cape Flats Nature in 2004 as the Capacity Building Manager and took over management of the project in late 2008. Her work and life experience range from fieldworker for a developmental funder, running a retail plant nursery to organisational leadership as an anti-apartheid activist. She has a diploma in Horticulture and an Honours degree in Linguistics.

Paula is passionate about nature and learning from practice and she is responsible for making sure that we all grow and develop in our work. Her role as Project Manager involves: ensuring the project meets its commitments; facilitating the exploration and growth of the practice of doing conservation in a way that contributes to community development; and making sure that we do everything in a way that is transparent and accountable and aligns with SANBI policy and processes.

 


Ntsiki Mlotywa: Practice Development & Communications Manager

 

ntsikiNtsiki Mlotywa completed her undergraduate studies at the University of the Western Cape with a qualification in the Social Sciences (Social Work). Post Graduate qualifications include certificates and Diplomas in The Management and Development of Small Businesses and Industries (Galilee College, Israel), Human Resources Management (Damelin Management School), Associate in Management Programme (UCT Graduate School of Business) and a short course in Developmental Local government. She is also a qualified skills facilitator and assessor.

Ntsiki has worked in local government as well as within the NGO/ CBO sectors. She brings to Cape Flats Nature her experience of working with various communities, as well as public and stakeholder relations.

Ntsiki joined Cape Flats Nature in February 2009 as a Practice Development and Communications Manager.

 


Marilyn Martin: Project Administrator

Marilyn started with the project in December 2003, responsible for the administrative and financial aspects.  Her background in working with other community organisations, created the platform for hone her administrative and financial skills. 
Having completed a B.A. degree at the University of the Western Cape and varous other courses with C Masters Development Services, including Financial Management for Non-Financial Managers, Pastel and Building useful financial reporting, to name a few, Marilyn aims to merge administration, usually an isolated work area, into the rest of the project's work area - a move which proved challenging yet beneficial to the project.older

Mzwandile Fulani: Capacity Building Intern

mzwandileMzwandile Fulani joined Cape Flats Nature in March 2010. He joins Cape Flats Nature armed with a National Diploma in Horticulture received at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He also has got an Assistant Education Officer (AEO) qualification received at the Gold Field Environmental Education Centre. Prior to this, he was part of a year and a half Environmental Education learner ship through the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA). He was in the employ of The South African National Biodiversity Institute as an Environmental Education Officer (EEO) for a period of 4 years. In 2009 he joined the City of Cape Town as an Environmental Education Officer intern. He was also involved in the planning and facilitating of AEO training for new recruits.
